How to avail Public transports in Sydney || All details & informations.

Hi friends, I hope you all are doing well. Today I will talk about Local Transport in Sydney. In a new place, we all become conscious about how to roam around the city. We might aware of the places to visit but sometimes we get confused about local transportation especially in a foreign country. That's why I am writing this blog so that it could help you. Also, I will make one Youtube Video on this later and I will share the link with you. So let's start our discussion today on how to get around Sydney.

Caution: Covid19 has spread all over the world so while roaming please have a double layered mask, hand sanitiser always with you. Be safe.

An efficient network of transport options makes traveling to attractions in Sydney and regional NSW affordable and enjoyable. The Sydney public transport system, provided by Transport for NSW, consists of trains, buses, ferries, and light rail (Tram).

Opal Card :

The Opal card is an easy, convenient way of paying for your travel on public transport in Sydney. It's the only card you'll need to get around on all public transport including trains, ferries, buses, and light rail. For more information, visit www.opal.com.au
When you will reach Sydney airport buy an Opal card for you and your partner or family members from the shops at the Airport. Also please don't forget to make the recharge while purchasing the card. There are 4 types of Opal Card :

1.Child/Youth (Age 4-15)
2.Adult (Age 16+)
3.Senior/Pensioner (for eligible seniors, pensioners and asylum seekers)
4.Concession (for eligible tertiary or TAFE students, apprentices, trainees or job seekers)

To top up your opal card please refer to this link: https://transportnsw.info/tickets-opal/opal/top-up-your-opal-card

NoteWhether you’re traveling with an Opal card or an Opal single ticket, always tap on and tap off. If you don’t, you’re not travelling with a valid ticket and you could be fined.

TripView Lite App :

After the opal card, the most important two apps you would need in Sydney are TripView Lite app and Google Map.
TripView displays Sydney and Melbourne public transport timetable data on your phone. It features a summary view showing your next services, as well as a full timetable viewer. All timetable data is stored on your phone, so it can be used offline.

Ferry/Wharf :

Most Sydney ferries operate between 6am and midnight. The standard Opal card one-way fare for most harbor destinations is $6.01; ferries to Manly, Sydney Olympic Park, and Parramatta cost $7.51.

Light Rail (Tram) :

Trams run between Central Station and Dulwich Hill, stopping at Chinatown, Darling Harbour, the Star Casino, Sydney Fish Market, Glebe and Leichhardt en route.
Opal-card fares cost for short journy $2.20 and $4.80 for a longer one.
A second light rail line will open in 2020. It will run from Circular Quay down a car-free George St right through the city center to Central station, then shoot east through Surry Hills, head past the Sydney Cricket Ground and Sydney Football Stadium and on to Kingsford, with a branch veering to Randwick.

Sydney Metro/Train :

For over 160 years, the Sydney Trains network has played a critical role in the provision of transport services for Sydney. You can get all train related information in the trip view lite app. One most interesting fact about the Sydney train is here all the trains are doubledecker trains.

Sydney Buses :

Sydney Buses travel through the city and beyond almost 24 hours a day. Most of the bus routes within the City of Sydney are prepaid only to reduce delays, so you'll need to buy the opal card before you get on board. Also, refer to the tripview lite app for Bus info.

Best Travel Timing in Sydney :

First of all, I would suggest everybody to try to travel on Sundays. Now read the next lines.
Please try to avoid traveling in the morning from 7am to 9am and is a bad time to travel. Opal rates in trains get cheaper from 9am until 4pm. From 6.30pm again train fares go down.
You can travel all day on an Opal card on a Sunday for $2.60 if you have travelled the whole week; it's a great time to get out on a ferry or take a long rail journey.
Trains on certain lines are regularly replaced by buses at weekends or late at night when maintenance is required. Budget extra time for your trips if this is the case.

So these are the small tips or information I wanted to share with you all. Also you can get all the information regarding Sydney on the official website of NSW Transport.

Have a safe and enjoy your time in Sydney. Cheers!!
